Blast and Riot Games announce Valorant Spike Nations

The organizer of the Blast tournament and game developer Riot Games announce a second edition of Valorant Spike Nations. Valorant Spike Nations is a tournament that is organized to raise funds for charities. It will likely take place from October 7 to 9 and Riot Games will fund the initial amount of 60,000 euros.

The tournament debuted last year and is repeating due to success. The announcement says the tournament will provide an opportunity for fans and teams to raise money for charities.

United Spike

The tournament is a three-day online competition in which twelve teams from the EMEA region compete against each other. Only the players in this tournament do not represent an organization but their country. The twelve participating teams are the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, Poland, Turkey, Russia, Italy, DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), Benelux and Team Eastern Europe. In addition, the teams are not only made up of professional athletes, popular content creators also participate in the tournament.

The teams will be divided into three groups of four, with the best two qualifying for the knockout phase. Spike Nations can be followed through the Blast Twitch Channel. More information and details regarding the schedule and teams will be announced via Blast of Riot Games in the coming weeks.

Previous edition

Only ten teams participated in the previous edition, Team Benelux and Team Eastern Europe will debut in the new edition. The teams were divided into two groups of five and all played a match against each other, the top two from each group qualified for the semi-finals. The semifinals went to the best of one and the team that won went to the final, which was the best of the tea. Spike Nation 2020 was dominated by Team Portugal, who won the tournament undefeated. In the end, 100,000 euros were donated to charities.
