Sony has started free trials of PlayStation 5 games, giving users a few hours to test the game before buying it, but the service is anything but perfect.
Seen by Eurogamer, the trial option is only available in the UK and there are only two games: Death Stranding: Director’s Cut and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The time you can try the game varies by title, as you can try Death Stranding for six hours, while Sackboy is available for five hours.
The total time you can play, on the other hand, will be much less. Time starts ticking from the moment you start downloading the game to your console, or make the decision to add the game to your library. Depending on your download speed, you will be able to play the game longer or shorter.
This means that if you have been downloading for two hours, you have lost much of your trial version. With 68GB of data, this may mean that you won’t be able to play Death Stranding for long before it crashes again.
To participate in the test, UK players can go to the PlayStation Store page of the respective games. It must be on a PlayStation 5, as the service is not available for PlayStation 4.
Although the system still does not seem ideal, it does give hope for a better variant in the future, in which you can try games with more freedom, especially if you buy them.
