Indicate the “who has not already bought Grand Theft Auto V?” Responses in the comments because Rockstar’s heavyweight was the second best-selling physical game in the UK last week. Only beaten in first place by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, GTA 5 climbed five spots to second place, representing a 44% increase in sales. F1 2021, which spent the last three weeks in first place, has dropped to sixth place.
The newest entry in the top 10 is Hades, with its release on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, placing the rogue in eighth position. 93 percent of boxed copy sales were for Sony systems (70 percent on PS5, 23 percent on PS4). Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart then returns to 10th place as a bit of Stock PS5 meant that exclusivity generated a 313% increase in physical purchases. Tokyo 2020 Olympics – The official video game fell from the podium in fourth position as the actual event wrapped things up, while Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continues to soar in seventh position.
Interestingly, GTA 5 may not be the only Rockstar series entry to hit the UK by the end of the year. Strong speculation suggests that the developer has a remastered GTA trilogy in the works, consisting of the three main PS2 titles. Could we report on two of the top 10 GTA products by the end of the year? It certainly seems like a possibility at this point.
