As the PS5 remains elusive, Sony has opened up registrations on its PlayStation Direct site to give European consumers the opportunity to purchase the console directly from the company.
It’s an initiative the console maker originally launched for US customers last October, and has now expanded its list of eligible countries to include applicants in the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. as well as in the United States. .
Sony says there are a “limited number” of consoles available, and those hoping to get a chance to pick one up first will have to sign in to the PlayStation website using your PSN ID. Successful registrants will receive an email with the date, time, and complete instructions on how to complete their purchase.
Sony emphasizes that not everyone who signs up will have a chance to buy a console, noting that the window to make a purchase after receiving an invite is limited, so successful applicants need to be quick. Also, if customers see a “sold out” message after following the instructions in their invite, they have unfortunately purchased all available PS5s.
There’s no indication of how long holders can wait before Sony begins notifying successful applicants, but some additional details can be found. in the attached FAQ.
