2. League

Regensburg (AP) – SSV Jahn Regensburg have for the moment regained their top spot in the 2nd Bundesliga with a tremendous victory over FC Erzgebirge Aue.

The Upper Palatinate won against the bottom of the table with 3: 2 (2: 0) and plunged the Saxons with interim manager Marc Hensel deeper into the crisis. Jan-Niklas Beste (7th), Max Besuschkow (11th) and Andreas Albers (90th) scored for Jahn, while Nicolas Kühn (52nd) and Gaetan Bussmann (87th) were successful. With now 17 points, Jahn edged out SC Paderborn, who will only host Holstein Kiel on Saturday, for at least one night.

In front of 8,127 spectators, the locals started furious and took their first opportunity. Besuschkow took out forward Beste with a direct pass, which he easily pushed to take the lead. A little later, Beste returned the favor with a corner that Besuschkow headed into the nearly empty goal. The insecure Saxons only found their way into the game in the middle of the first half and had at least one chance through Babacar Gueye (22nd).

Aue-Joker Kühn finally put guests back on the line by converting an inadvertent submission from Ben Zulinski. Suddenly, the Saxons were the determining team of the game and pressed for the tie. Bussman finally made the tie after halftime, two deserved. But Albers released the locals in a dramatic final phase.
