McDonald’s is testing McPlant in eight of the chain’s restaurants across the country. There are two of these places here in Southern California, in Manhattan Beach and El Segundo.

The star of the McPlant burger is a vegan burger, developed in collaboration with Beyond Meat and exclusively for McDonald’s, consisting of ingredients such as peas, rice and potatoes. It comes in McDonald’s famous sesame seed bun with tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, onions, mayo, ketchup, mustard, and a slice of cheese. While the McPlant has a vegan muffin, it is not actually vegan because it contains cheese and mayonnaise and is cooked on the same grill as meat and eggs.
