Yesterday we commented on the almost certainty of seeing Mathys Boisramé on Jeffrey Herling’s official KTM, it’s official! The Breton rider will be this weekend at the start of the British GP riding the 450 SX-F as well as at the Mantua GP. Excellent news and history, also because it is the first time since Pichon/Tortelli in 2006 that a Frenchman has ridden the official KTM in MXGP. Here is the official press release!

Former European Champion and MX2 World podium finisher Mathys Boisrame will race in Red Bull KTM colors at the first and second rounds of the FIM MXGP World Championship in the UK and Italy. The Frenchman has completed several days of testing with Jeffrey Herlings and will ride the factory KTM 450 SX-F in the absence of the reigning world champion, who continues to recover from left heel surgery. Mathys Boisrame will take place under the canopy and alongside compatriot Tom Vialle for the rearranged British Grand Prix at Matterley Basin this Saturday and Sunday and the Lombardy Grand Prix in Mantua the following weekend. Mathys made his MXGP class debut in the last five races of 2021 and scored four top-10 finishes. Boisrame was crowned European EMX250 champion in 2018 and spent two and a half seasons at the helm of the MX2 world championship.

Joel Smets (KTM Racing Red Bull Principal): “When the British GP was changed by a week, Mathys and the team had a bit more time to get used to the bike and we were able to do some extra testing. It became clear that we could already integrate him into the team for the first race. Jeffrey is unique. It is impossible to find another driver like him but we can appreciate the speed and determination of Mathys. He has already shown that he can run fast and strong at Grand Prix level. It’s good luck for him and important laps for us. »
