New Honda RC213V-S sold for 218,000 euros in the UK

2016 ‘MotoGP’ road ratings continue to climb

Taking advantage of the development of CRT motorcycles in MotoGP, despite the resounding failure of this quickly withdrawn category from the Grand Prix, Honda produced its RCV1000R in small series with a high-end RC213V-S in the summer of 2015.

Homologated for the road, this motorcycle with an exceptional chassis was however of limited interest with an output of just 159 horsepower. On the other hand, it also came with an HRC Sport kit that boosted power to 215 horsepower while lowering the weight to 160kg dry, but only for track use.

Sold as the Honda MotoGP replica, the RC213V-S was also a very expensive motorcycle as the bill amounted to 188,000 euros, probably a record for a Japanese production motorcycle, although only 213 copies were made.

The truth is that the RC213V-S is right now the most expensive Japanese motorcycle in history since an example has just exceeded 218,000 euros at auction, with its Sport kit. It is therefore much better than another RC VS recently sold in Japan for 206,000 euros.

It is not just any model since it is a 2016 model with only 1 kilometer on the odometer and still present in its delivery box. The sale, carried out by the Collecting Cars house in the United Kingdom, could also count on the rarity of the model to see its coastline climb.

In the end, the bike was sold for € 30,000 more than when it was launched seven years ago, that is, a capital gain of around 16%. Not bad, we understand why these overpriced limited series quickly find buyers …
