Leading 1-3 after losing serve in the first set, the Serb chained five games in a row to win the opening set.

An awkwardness in the crowd interrupted the start of the second set for a few minutes, but it was Kwon who again took the lead breaking to lead 3-1 and then confirming to break 4-1. This time, the South Korean kept the lead on him: widely supported by the crowd, he led 0-30 on serve at 5-3, fielding four points in a row to level a set everywhere.

In the next round, Djokovic will face Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis (79th) or Pole Kamil Majchrzak (91st).
