WhatsApp, the messaging application owned by Meta, suffered an outage on Wednesday, April 3, as reported by the website Downdetector.com. This results in the inability to send messages, but also to receive them. Calls are also impossible.

About 12,000 American users have reported problems with the messaging platform, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collecting status reports from various sources, including errors reported by users on its platform.

According to data from Downdetector, more than 20,000 users in India, around 46,000 in the United Kingdom and more than 42,000 in Brazil also reported problems with the platform. According to Downdetector, around 4,800 people also experienced problems with Instagram in the United States.

Although the different services are gradually becoming available again, WhatsApp has indicated in “some people face problems” and promises to work “100%” until the complete recovery of the platform.

Last month, hundreds of thousands of users of Meta’s Facebook and Instagram sites were affected for more than two hours following an outage caused by a technical issue.
