So do they exist after all? The unveiling of two alleged “alien mummies” in Mexico has captured the imagination of UFO believers.

Mexican journalist José Jaime Maussan showed Congress two boxes containing alleged mummies that had been found in Peru and caused a great stir with these alleged revelations about extraterrestrial beings.

These are “non-human beings that are not part of our terrestrial evolution,” said self-proclaimed UFO expert Maussan. The wrinkled bodies, with small, deformed heads and hands with only three fingers, provoked shocked reactions among politicians and inspired enthusiastic comments on social media.

Specialists from the National University of Mexico used radiocarbon measurements to date them at about 1,000 years old, Maussan said.

The university's physics department confirmed in a statement that it had carried out tests, but only to determine the age and not the origin of the samples. The laboratory “dissociates itself from any subsequent use, interpretation or misrepresentation of the results it issued,” the statement said.

The action was organized by Congressman Sergio Gutiérrez “in the name of the public interest.” He asked the speakers to swear that they were telling the truth.

The “aliens” supposedly discovered in Peru in 2017 were dolls

“This is the queen of all evidence,” said Maussan, referring to DNA samples that could prove that nothing like it exists anywhere else in the world. However, he does not want to use the term “extraterrestrials” just yet.

According to him, the apparently dissected bodies were found in 2017 deep in the sandy desert near Nazca in Peru, known for the Nazca Lines. Experts attribute these huge and enigmatic figures, which are painted on the Earth and can only be seen from a bird's eye view, to ancient indigenous communities, but some believe they are evidence of an ancient space station.

Maussan had previously made similar claims about the discovery of “alien mummies” in Peru. However, a report by the Peruvian Prosecutor’s Office concluded at the time that the apparent mummies were actually “recently manufactured dolls that have been covered with a mixture of paper and synthetic glue to simulate the presence of skin.” The finds are therefore “not the remains of aliens” but were almost certainly made by humans.

The bodies were not publicly displayed at the time. It is therefore unclear whether they were presented to the Mexican Congress.

Scientific doubts and mockery on the Internet.

Julieta Fierro, a researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico's Institute of Astronomy, was skeptical, saying many details “don't make sense.” Fierro said scientists would need more advanced technology than X-rays to determine whether the supposedly calcified bodies were “non-human.”

“Maussan has done many things. He says he spoke with the Virgin of Guadalupe,” Fierro said. “He once told me that aliens don’t talk to me like they talk to him because I don’t believe in them.”

Moreover, Peru would certainly not have allowed him to take such a “national treasure” with him to Mexico – “without at least an invitation for the Peruvian ambassador.”

The congress did not take a position on the theses presented during the more than three-hour session. However, the demonstration in parliament provoked numerous amusing comments on social media. It shows “the contempt this country has for science,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter). Others shared videos of the event with comments such as “The Martians have landed” and one user called for Maussan to be named “President of Intergalactic Relations.”

NASA announces results of UFO investigation

The whole world is eagerly awaiting NASA's so-called UFO report, which the US space agency is scheduled to publish on September 14, 2023.

In 2022, the US space agency NASA commissioned a study to assess the possibilities of studying so-called unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). These phenomena also include the well-known UFOs. The report will now be published and the results presented. Streamed live here on September 14, 2023 starting at 4 pm A well-known NASA team, including NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, will be on site.
