With six Eurofighters and around 160 soldiers, the German Air Force participates in a multinational flight exercise. At first, German and Israeli warplanes flew over Jerusalem together.
In a symbolic gesture, fighter jets of the German and Israeli air forces flew over Jerusalem together. The four planes were also shown in pictures over Israel’s parliament, the Knesset.
This marked the start of the largest international flight exercise to date in Israel, also involving Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France, India, Greece and the United States.
The joint flight over Jerusalem expresses “a strong partnership and connection between the air forces and the countries, as well as a commitment to continue cooperation in the future,” the Israeli army said.
According to the information, the chiefs of the German and Israeli air forces, Ingo Gerhartz and Amikam Norkin, previously visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem together.
The German Air Force participates with six Eurofighters and around 160 soldiers in the multinational Blue Flag flying exercise, which is supposed to last until 28 October.
