Due to technical problems, air traffic in Great Britain is currently severely restricted. British air traffic control reports that they are working to find and correct the error.
British air traffic control has warned of flight delays due to “technical problems”. The National Air Traffic Services agency said it had “introduced restrictions on traffic flow to ensure safety,” according to the BBC. Work is underway to find and fix the bug.
Air traffic control did not provide an estimate of how long it would take to fix the problem or what may have caused it. The European air traffic authority, Eurocontrol, also warned of “very high” delays due to an “error in the flight data processing system” in the United Kingdom.
Britain’s largest airport, London Heathrow, urged passengers to check with their airline about the current status. Gatwick Airport, south of London, said there were delays. Flight cancellations are “likely.” From Liverpool airport it was said that luggage was being loaded onto planes, but some departures were delayed. Because of the problems in Britain, there were also delays in Ireland.

Scottish airline Loganair had previously announced on Twitter, its successor X, that there had been a network-wide failure of British air traffic control computer systems. He warned that international flights could be delayed. Some passengers bound for Britain reported delays on social media.
