The United Kingdom ready to strengthen cooperation with Tunisia

The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Saïd, met yesterday Thursday with John Humphrey, Royal Commissioner for Trade of the United Kingdom for Africa, who is visiting Tunisia, within the framework of the 6th edition of the international conference “Financing Investment and Trade in Africa” (Fita 2023).

According to a statement published on Friday by the Department of Economy, Humphrey highlighted his country’s willingness to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries in various fields, within the framework of direct investment projects or tripartite cooperation aimed at neighboring regional markets. , particularly African markets.

He stressed, in this context, the importance of the geographical location of Tunisia, which is presented as a strategic portal to the African continent.

For his part, Saïd focused on promising areas with high technological value, including renewable energy, biotechnology, ICT, etc., which can be the subject of British investment projects in Tunisia.

At the same time, he expressed Tunisia’s desire to draw on the experience of British companies and organizations operating in the field of developing the capabilities of SMEs and innovative start-ups.

The minister also underlined the Tunisian government’s determination to develop fruitful economic partnerships with African countries and to work to design appropriate mechanisms to encourage and assist Tunisian companies to internationalize.
