The sexual assault allegations against the Hollywood actor Spacey were first made in 2017. Now the British prosecutor’s office has taken steps indicating that charges of sexually assaulting three men in four counts will soon be announced.
Fallen Hollywood star Kevin Spacey is facing four counts of sexual assault on three men. The British prosecutor announced that he had authorized the police to bring formal charges against the American actor. Spacey is also accused of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without his consent.
The approval of an indictment means that criminal proceedings have been launched against the ‘House of Cards’ star. Police said Spacey, who is currently outside the UK, “will be formally charged at a later date.”
The alleged incidents are said to have taken place in London between March 2005 and August 2008 and in the west of England in April 2013. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office said the prosecution was preceded by a review of evidence gathered by London police.
Spacey’s career on hold since 2017
The alleged victims are now in their 30s and 40s. Spacey was questioned by British police in 2019 following complaints from several men. The men had accused him of assault. The former ‘House of Cards’ star, 62, managed London’s Old Vic theater from 2004 to 2015. The space is a two-time Oscar winner. His career has been on hold since 2017.
At the time, actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexually assaulting him at a party in the 1980s. Spacey has denied the allegations and is currently trying to get Rapp’s civil lawsuit dismissed in New York. On Thursday he testified in this process in New York, it dealt with procedural issues. Neither he nor his lawyers responded to reporters’ questions about the new charges.
