British government not resting: Following the resignation of a minister on Wednesday, there are again allegations of harassment against a cabinet member. Justice Minister Raab is said to have behaved aggressively towards the employees.

Shortly after Minister Gavin Williamson resigned over allegations of intimidation, there were similar allegations against Attorney General Dominic Raab. Various outlets reported that Raab, who is also a deputy prime minister, behaved aggressively towards the employees. Already in his first term under former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, he had spread a “culture of fear” in the Justice Ministry, The Guardian newspaper wrote. Several officials were offered to move to another agency when the 48-year-old returned to his old job in October.

Nickname “Incinerator”

The Mirror newspaper reported that Raab’s internal nickname was “The Incinerator” because he incinerates employees. According to information from the newspaper “Sol”, it is said that Raab threw tomatoes around the room out of anger. A spokesman for the minister denied the accusations. The minister is only “direct”.

Raab had worked with former Prime Minister Johnson, first as Foreign Secretary and then as Deputy Prime Minister and Attorney General. He is one of Sunak’s closest allies and returned to both posts under him. Due to the incidents, criticism of Sunak is now increasing that he did not fill his cabinet well.

labor criticism

The main opposition Labor party called the allegations “deeply disturbing” and accused Sunak of misjudgment. “With each new scandal and sordid deal, it becomes more and more apparent that he is a weak leader who puts party before national interest,” Labor deputy chairwoman Angela Rayner said. Sunak is breaking his promise of integrity in government.

Minister Williamson, who was a member of the government without a portfolio, resigned on Tuesday night. Sunak has denied allegations that he appointed Williamson to the cabinet despite being aware of the intimidation allegations.
