Ukraine’s top diplomat urged the international community to “stop Putin” after the Russian president announced a military attack on Ukraine and explosions were reported near Ukrainian cities.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said the Russian president’s actions constituted a “full-scale invasion” against Ukraine, calling it a “war of aggression.”

“The world can and must stop Putin. Now is the time to act,” he wrote. Twitter minutes after the Russian invasion. “Ukraine will defend and win. »

kuleba too published a “to-do list” measures to dissuade Russia and declared that the future of Europe and the world “is at stake”.

Kuleba called for “devastating” sanctions against Russia, arms and equipment for Ukraine, financial aid and humanitarian aid.

The Russian attack was launched as the United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting on Wednesday night.

At the UN meeting, Putin said in a video released early Thursday in Russia that the country was launch a “special military action” against Ukraine.

Within minutes, explosions were reported near major Ukrainian cities. Ukrainian officials said the country had been targeted by airstrikes.

The Wednesday before the attack, Kuleba told the UN General Assembly that an all-out war with Russia would be “the end of the world order as we know it”.

He urged the UN and the international community to take “rapid, concrete and resolute measures” in response to the Russian aggression.

United States, United Kingdom, European Union and other countries sanctions have already been imposed on Russia following the intensification of Putin’s military action in recent days. US President Joe Biden called the assault a “premeditated war” against Ukraine.
