As the guest of honor at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2023, the United Kingdom attended the fair on September 2, the opening day, with a 224-square-meter pavilion, designed to fully reflect the fusion of tradition and innovation.

Upon entering the British pavilion, visitors are impressed by the model of London Bridge, which welcomes them, as well as Peter Rabbit, Paddington Bear, the Beetle car… British elements familiar to the Chinese are seen everywhere. parts in the pavilion. During this fair, the United Kingdom launches more than 70 activities to make participants feel the openness, vitality and fast pace of the country.

Led by Lord Dominic Johnson, UK Minister of State for Business and Trade, the British delegation to this year’s CIFTIS is the largest ever assembled by the UK. More than 60 UK companies and organizations showcase the achievements of British brands across the creative, sport, education, technology, energy, healthcare and financial services sectors.

“China is the United Kingdom’s second largest trading partner. The two countries enjoy close economic, trade and investment relations, and there is enormous room for cooperation in the area of ​​trade in services,” said Lord Dominic Johnson, while hoping that trade in services would play a greater role. in the economy and commercial cooperation between both countries.

The United Kingdom is a major exporter of services. According to statistics, the service sector represents 79% of the country’s total economic production, with 82% of the number of people employed. It is the main engine of economic growth in the United Kingdom. Tom Duke, UK Trade Commissioner in China, highlighted that the UK has good service products that can be offered to Chinese partners, particularly in the financial, medical and environmental sectors. “CIFTIS is a good platform for us and we greatly welcome Chinese companies to visit and see the British pavilion,” he concluded.
