After the world’s largest rocket launch and explosion last week in Texas, residents of nearby coastal cities are concerned about the particles. Several environmental activists and scientists ask the US network CNBC to investigate the health effects of the substances that have landed in the vicinity of the Boca Chica launch site.
A 120-meter SpaceX rocket exploded nearly 4 minutes after launch last Thursday. According to CNBC, permits from Elon Musk’s company show that the debris would end up within a radius of more than a kilometer from the base in the event of an explosion. In fact, the debris fell as far as Port Isabel and South Padre Island, about 10 kilometers from the launch site.
According The New York Times In Port Isabel, a window must have been broken after the missile exploded. A Port Isabel spokesman confirmed to the newspaper that almost the entire site was buried under “a fairly thick layer of sand and dust.” However, it would not be harmful to health. The launch itself caused a huge cloud of dust.

However, environmentalists say they are concerned about the effects on the health of local residents. A comprehensive analysis of the substances that have been deposited in the coastal city should provide more information. Large pieces of debris that fell may also have disturbed the habitat of endangered marine species near the launch site, such as turtles.
SpaceX hopes to eventually get people to the Moon and Mars with the Starship. Despite the failure, the company says it has “learned a lot” from the launch.
