Prince Harry loses in London court, shortly after the “chase”

First came reports that Harry and Meghan had been chased around New York by a horde of paparazzi. A few days later there was a security setback.

Late last week, royal turmoil ensued in the United States, with Harry and Meghan reporting a “near catastrophic persecution.” After a public appearance in New York, they were besieged by paparazzi and then followed, according to the couple’s account. Memories of the fatal accident of Diana, Harry’s mother, were awakened and discussions about the safety of the royals arose again.

Just a few days later, a report from Great Britain breaks into this situation. Prince Harry’s hope of being able to enjoy police protection as usual despite his departure from the royal family’s inner circle in Britain has been put on hold. The 38-year-old proposed covering the expenses himself. But the British Home Office rejected it.

The ministry maintains that it is inappropriate for the wealthy to purchase police protection. The High Court in London on Tuesday dismissed a claim against this decision as inadmissible. The British broadcaster BBC, among others, cites the court’s reasoning.

It is not the only problem for Harry and Meghan

However, questions remain unanswered. The court wants to continue examining whether the reduction in security measures for Harry, his wife Meghan and their two children Archie and Lilibet is appropriate and whether the decision was made on an understandable basis. It is not yet clear when this matter will be heard.

Harry is also carrying out similar proceedings against the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, as well as the publisher of The Sun newspapers and the now-discontinued News Group Newspapers.
