PR Report | Sylvia Shin takes over OMV communication

At the Austrian energy group OMV AG, Sylvia Shin will be in charge of communications as Senior Vice President from the beginning of April.

According to the company, Shin has more than 20 years of experience in the field of corporate communications and public affairs. He has held various management positions in listed companies in the technology, pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors in Britain, Japan and Germany. The graduate business economist is currently Vice President of Bayer AG and responsible for executive communications and strategic public relations in the pharmaceuticals division worldwide. During the eight years he worked for the Leverkusen-based pharmaceutical group, he held global communications roles in the healthcare and pharmaceutical divisions with a focus on strategy and business transformation, as well as innovation and digitalisation. He previously held senior positions at the Sony consumer electronics group, most recently as General Manager of Corporate Communications for Europe.

In his future role at OMV Group, Shin will report to Alfred Stern, President and CEO. She is the successor to Hans-Peter Siebenhaar, who left the company six months after taking office at the end of 2021. Interim management of OMV communications is currently in the hands of press spokesman Andreas Rinofner.
