Austin. In the last free practice session before qualifying for the United States Grand Prix, Sergio Pérez set the best time at Red Bull.
The Mexican took 1: 34.701 minutes in the 5.5 kilometers and was 0.104 seconds ahead of Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari. World Championship leader Max Verstappen from the Netherlands canceled his best lap because he left the track illegally, but he remained third fastest in practice. The best lap of world champion Lewis Hamilton also did not count. The British Mercedes driver finished the session in sixth place, 0.518 seconds behind Pérez.
Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin did not attach much importance to very fast laps, because he had to start from behind to replace the engine on Sunday, and he was eleventh in the third practice session. Mick Schumacher and his Haas were penultimate ahead of teammate Nikita Masepin from Russia, who failed to set a fastest lap.
