Palace unveils coronation details

The coronation of King Carlos III. It should be celebrated in a big way – and for three days. The palace reveals how.

With a huge concert and street parties across the UK, Charles III is set to take place from May 6-8. According to the palace, the coronation ceremony will take place on Saturday morning at London’s Westminster Abbey. There the Archbishop of Canterbury will crown Charles and Queen Camilla.

Charles and Camilla will march from Buckingham Palace to the church in what is known as the ‘King’s Procession’. The current role of the monarch will be displayed in the service. One will look forward, but one will also cling to traditions. Afterwards, some family members return to the palace; this procession is called “The Coronation Procession”. The royal family will then appear on the balcony.

The coronation of Carlos III. it is the first in the UK in 70 years. Her mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was also crowned in Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953. She died on September 8, 2022, making Charles king.

Harry and Meghan’s involvement uncertain

It is unclear which family members will accompany Charles and Camilla to the palace after the service. However, it can be assumed that the king’s eldest son and his heir to the throne, Prince William, and his wife, Princess Kate, will be there. However, it is questionable if his youngest son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are invited. Harry had recently accused his family of briefing the press on internal affairs in interviews, series and in his “Reserve” biography of him.

Heads of state from around the world and tens of thousands of people are expected to arrive in London for coronation weekend. Following Saturday’s ceremony, there will be a concert featuring “world music icons and contemporary stars” at Windsor Castle on Sunday night. Thousands of tickets will be raffled off for this. In addition, a “coronation choir” will be formed with members of numerous special choirs.

During the day, on Sundays, the palace hosts the “Great Coronation Lunch”, street festivals and tea parties. It is said that there are thousands of events throughout the country.

Due to the coronation, May 8 is a unique holiday. Under the banner “Big Help”, people should be aware of volunteer work in their communities. The government is considering extending pub curfews to three weekend nights.
