London (dpa) – Goodbye, Great Britain: British Prince Harry (39) has officially moved his main residence to the United States. This is clear from publicly accessible documents from the British commercial registry Company House. Consequently, Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex, as he is known in the documents of the Travalyst organization, resides in the United States.
As the head of the non-profit organization GmbH, which supports environmentally and climate-friendly travel, Harry must inform the commercial register of important changes. Until now, Great Britain remained his first place of residence, although he and his wife, Duchess Meghan (42), have lived in the US state of California since 2020. The couple has two children: Prince Archie (4) and the princess Lilibet (2).
Harry has lived in California with his family since 2020.
The change, which was announced this week, was made on June 29, 2023, the date Buckingham Palace announced that Harry and Meghan had moved out of their home, Frogmore Cottage, on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
King Charles III had reportedly (75) expelled the two from the royal estate due to anger over Harry's memoir “Reserve” (original title: “Spare”).
The couple had purchased Frogmore Cottage as their home following the 2018 wedding of Harry's now-deceased grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. It was initially renovated at taxpayers' expense for £2.4 million (currently €2.8 million). The couple later returned the amount.
It's already rare in Windsor
After Harry and Meghan split from the royal family's inner circle in a dispute two years later, they rarely stayed in Windsor.
Harry last traveled to the kingdom after his father's cancer diagnosis was announced. A 45-minute meeting between father and son offered at least some hope for reconciliation.
