Lufthansa Technik will be in charge of equipment support for Norway’s new Boeing P-8A Poseidon

Boeing has awarded Lufthansa Technik an MRO contract covering equipment for four Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) P-8As.

The agreement is of the type Total Component Support (TCS) and covers more than 400 common parts for the 737NG commercial platform, allowing the RNZAF to rely on the global civil-oriented supply chain of the German company MRO.

As a reminder, New Zealand received its first Poseidon on December 7 in Seattle, the other three copies will be delivered in 2023. The new maritime patrol aircraft will replace the P-3K2 Orions (six copies in service) and will be based in Ohakea. General aircraft support is provided by Boeing Defense Australia.

Boeing and Lufthansa Technik had also signed a strategic memorandum of understanding last year for the support of the future P-8A Poseidon fleet, in association with ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH (ESG), a German company specializing in systems engineering and support. . and equipment for civil and military aeronautics.

Germany will become the third country in Europe to field a fleet of P-8A Poseidons (after the UK and Norway), with five copies ordered (potentially ten) and a first delivery expected in 2024.
