The SOS Group, an important player in the fight against all forms of exclusion for almost 40 years, launches the Foundation for Inclusive Sports, an initiative aimed at fighting persistent discrimination in the field of sport.
This foundation is housed in the Fondation Agir Contre l’Exclusion (FACE). Recognized as a public utility, it is also committed to the fight against discrimination, social exclusion and poverty.
According to the foundation, “Despite the significant resources and efforts deployed by federations, leagues and clubs, exclusions and discrimination persist in the world of sport. In this Olympic year in which sport is the Great National Cause, the SOS Group believes that it is time to make sport a pillar of Coexistence by adopting an ambitious approach. Two main objectives: promote the values of sport as a tool for social and professional inclusion, and combat all forms of discrimination in the sporting environment. »
Two main missions of the Foundation
First mission: raise awareness, train, support
The first mission of the Foundation is to make the “values of sport” a reality through raise awareness, train and support :
- Actors on the ground: educators, volunteers, social mediators, professionals from social and medical-social establishments;
- Actors of the sports movement: leaders of clubs, leagues and federations.
Volunteer or manager, each actor has a role to play in the fight against exclusion. For this reason, the Foundation will strive to train and support them to give them all the keys. It is through collective action that we will make sport an inclusive environment. On the one hand, allowing access to peaceful and satisfactory sports practice for all, and then contributing to making sport a tool for awareness, inclusion and citizenship, especially for the most vulnerable groups.
Second mission: Fund impact projects and tag committed clubs
Clubs and associations, which often face tedious procedures and limited resources, will benefit from the support of the foundation to implement concrete initiatives aimed at making sport more accessible and inclusive.
The Foundation will also offer multi-level labeling of the clubs, leagues, federations and sports infrastructures most committed and advanced in the fight against all forms of discrimination in the world of sport. The Foundation will support all those involved in this process aimed at making sport increasingly inclusive.
