Buckingham Palace officials posted the official announcement of the Queen’s death on the palace gate at night. Many broke down in tears when the flag was lowered at Buckingham Palace. Hundreds of people had gathered outside the Queen’s official London residence before the announcement.
In the evening, the police removed the barriers in front of the gates of Balmoral Castle so that citizens could also lay flowers there. The regent died at her country house in Scotland.
