Brewer Duvel Moortgat chose an Infor solution to optimize production planning, following another project with the publisher on supply chain planning.
publishedBased in Belgium, Duvel Moortgat is a brewer known for brands such as Duvel, Vedett, ‘t IJ, La Chouffe, De Koninck, Liefmans and Maredsous. Initially a local brewery, this family-owned company has grown to become global today, with ten production sites (mainly in Belgium, the United States and the Czech Republic) and business entities in many countries, including France, the United Kingdom, China and Spain. Historically, the company planned its production processes in Excel. However, its regular growth, the seasonality of beer production and the uncertainty linked to the health context have revealed the limits of this operation. These reasons led Duvel Moortgat to turn to the Infor Production Scheduling production scheduling solution.
Extended visibility of production cycles
Breweries are among the most complex production companies. It was essential for us to reduce the complexity of our operations while maintaining control of our production,” explains Dirk Waarschoot, Head of Production Planning and Raw Material Purchasing at Duvel Moortgat. The brewer had already implemented another Infor solution for demand forecasting and supply planning. The choice of the programming tool was made in the continuity of this project, to build a complete programming solution. Infor Production Scheduling also addressed the specific challenges of breweries, enabling the simultaneous planning of tanks and production lines, taking into account complex constraints related to routes, labor, and resources.
The interface between the two solutions will allow to offer a complete visibility of the production cycles. The scheduling tool will be used in particular to optimize production processes, make better use of equipment and resources, reduce turnover and increase performance.
