Bever launches Our Planet sustainability label

With this quality brand, Bever wants to help customers make a more sustainable choice. The quality mark indicates on the basis of five criteria that the product is a more sustainable option and why.

Not entirely sustainable, but it’s still the mark of quality.
More than 3,000 products with the sustainability label can be found in the Bever store and webshop. These products have been awarded the quality mark because, for example, they are made from sustainable or recycled material, are produced with cleaner production processes or guarantee safer working conditions. Surprisingly, Bever indicates that the quality mark can also be given to products that have not been produced in a completely sustainable way. The underlying idea is that Bever also believes in a world where things last longer. That product may not always be produced in the most sustainable way, but its use is sustainable, so ultimately less needs to be produced.

It is not a goal in itself
Christian de Jong (photo), Director of Sustainability and Innovation at Bever, indicates that the Our Planet quality brand is not an objective in itself, but part of a broader sustainable objective: to help consumers use products in a more sustainable. The outdoor retail chain hopes the Our Planet quality brand will help with this. De Jong: ‘Outside is good for us. This is why we are also good outdoors. Our love of the outdoors motivates us every day to make Bever even more sustainable. But I must admit that this is not always easy. It’s challenging yourself every day to do better, because let’s face it: the world won’t look any different tomorrow. We get that. But we also understand that we cannot wait until tomorrow to act. Therefore, this launch is another important step forward ”.
