a sports roadster and a cafe racer

Norton’s history is tumultuous, but TVS Motor appears to be on solid footing in restoring the British firm’s image. And for good reason: it is investing more than 100 million euros in its revival and building a new factory based in Solihull, England. If the Norton Atlas Nomad and Ranger 650 come out -ouch- from the catalog, the new V4SV is formalized and the new Norton Commando 961 is about to hit the road.

Unsurprisingly, the new Commando Sport (SP) and Café Racer (CR) are powered by an air- and oil-cooled 961cc inline-twin engine. It develops 76.8 hp at 7,250 rpm for 81 Nm at 6,300 rpm and is mated to a 5-speed wet-clutch gearbox.

Hand-welded, the new tubular steel frame is suspended by an adjustable 43mm inverted fork and twin Öhlins adjustable rear shocks. ABS braking is provided by Brembo, with a 4-piston caliper up front biting into two 320mm discs and a 2-piston caliper mounted on a 240mm disc at the rear. The wheelbase tops out at 1400mm and the weight shows 230kg when full of fuel.

The bike is adorned with a stainless steel exhaust line, carbon fender, seat cover, passenger seat (optional), and 17-inch aluminum wheels with Dunlop Sportmax GPR 300 tires. As for the colors, Norton offers a black or chrome decoration. for both models.

The first prices announced in the UK start at £16,499 or €18,900.
