Körber’s Operator Eye solution reduces GXO picking errors by up to 75%

The technology company Körber has developed, for warehouses GXO Logistics, a solution called Operator Eye, which has enabled the service provider to reduce shrink-wrapping and shrink-wrapping errors by up to 75%. This results in less downtime and human intervention. “We were delighted to work with Körber to develop the Operator Eye, which is another example of our commitment to using innovative technology to make the warehouse safer, more efficient and more productive for our people”says Gavin Williams, General Manager of GXO for the UK and Ireland. “Together with our other technologies, it makes our people’s jobs more satisfying by allowing them to focus on finding more value in their role through activities like identifying compatibility issues and resolving equipment issues.”.

AI-driven innovation

The Operator Eye solution uses a camera to detect errors in real time during picking. By relying on artificial intelligence, it generates algorithms to learn the operator’s gestures, without changing their behavior. This learning is used to detect problems and make decisions: adapt, stop or continue operations. The Operator Eye innovation was originally designed for Körber’s Layer Picker solution. However, it can be integrated into any machine that operators need to restart after a visual check, such as pallet trucks where detached plastic film regularly causes stoppages. In addition, the data collected by Operator Eye is skillfully exploited with the aim of improving services to customers.
