Since 2014, the Lamborghini Huracan has been making enthusiasts dream on the streets. Today, Lamborghini announced that after eight years of production, the production line has just passed the 20,000-unit mark.
There are 20,000 hurricanes in the world. Intended for a Monegasque owner, the 20,000th Huracan is an STO model painted in “Grigio Acheso Matt”. Like all Huracans, it is powered by a naturally aspirated V10 engine. In this version of the Bolognese sports car it develops 640 horsepower. Over the years the Huracan has seen many editions and has evolved into a true racer through the STO. But the story of the Huracans developed for the track began with the famous Performante version and its record at the Nürburgring. Especially thanks to intelligent aerodynamics.
“In its presentation we said that with the Huracán, Lamborghini would write the next chapter of its great history”said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Huracán has followed the evolution of design, of technological know-how, allowing it to live adventures and break records in sales and on the tracks.”
A legend of the Raging Bull?
Since its inception, no country has enjoyed the Hurricane as much as the United States. Americans bought a third of all copies, followed by the UK and China. Since its inception, only 29% of all buyers have opted for Spyder variants, with the vast majority choosing coupes instead. Additionally, 60% of all Huracans have been personalized in-house through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam services.
The latest addition to the Huracan line is the recently introduced Tecnica. This pure rear wheel drive version seeks to be the most versatile vehicle to suit both track and road use. It shares its motor with the STO, which means that it can reach 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. However, that is not the end of the Hurricane story. Lamborghini plans to introduce another variant of the Huracan this year, which will likely be an “off-road supercar.” Subject to follow.
