Most of the UK’s 8,000 petrol stations ran out of fuel earlier in the week.

London On the pump at the Shell petrol station in South West London it says “Sorry, out of order.” The driver Rowan is frustrated: “It is already the fourth gas station that has no gasoline.” It’s eight in the morning on Tuesday. The Honda racer still has 100 miles of fuel, but he wants to refuel just to be safe. You need the car to work. The gas station manager explains that he “has no idea” when the next delivery will arrive.

At the BP gas station, a few blocks away, the woman at the cash register says, “We don’t know when we will have supplies. Try Sainsbury’s ”. Cars line up in front of the supermarket chain’s gas station. “I can’t guarantee that there will be enough for everyone,” says the man showing the cars. “It is better to stand in the back.”
