The British king follows the World Cup final on the screen

British King Charles III. (74) wished English footballers good luck ahead of the World Cup final. “Good luck today lionesses and may you hurry to victory,” the monarch wrote in a message posted Sunday night. Charles allowed himself a pun: the English word “roar” means “roar” or “roar”, but it can also be understood as “roar”. England play Spain in Sydney on Sunday.
Charles and the royal family are likely to be among the millions of people in Britain who will watch the World Cup final on screen. Heir to the British throne, William, who is also president of the English Football Association, apologized for his absence in a video message to the team. “We’re sorry we can’t be there in person, but we’re so proud of all he’s accomplished,” he said in the video, which shows him with his daughter Charlotte.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will also not be at the stadium for the final. The UK Government will be represented by Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer.
