A thick fir forest rises like a wall and covers part of the mountain. A few tens of meters away, the Levant refuge offers a view of the valley and the Lac de Joux below. The border with France is a few kilometers away. Only the Swiss flag fluttering in the wind indicates to hikers its geographical position. In the distance, conversations are heard. Emerging from the Jura forest, a group of hikers takes shape and shouts with joy at the sight of the chalet that will welcome them for the night. Tired, smiling, the merry band shows their relief after a 30-kilometre walk.
The walkers are not all experienced hikers. They are artisans, merchants or vendors within the Ursa company, experts in thermal and acoustic insulation, and they won a unique three-day expedition in the Swiss Jura in the company of Stéphane Level, geologist and mountain guide, and Jérémy Roumian, head of operations and partnerships at the Human Adaptation Institute. The 12 participants, aged between 33 and 65 and living in Hauts-de-France, the Toulouse region and Île-de-France, came to take up the challenge launched by the company, that of carrying out an expedition with the Institute for Human Adaptation. The goal? Understand current climate changes and try to adapt to these new conditions.
