The GSMA invites African startups to participate in its climate challenge

The GSMA Innovation Facility for Climate Resilience and Adaptation 2.0 is inviting applications from African startups looking to experiment and develop digital technology innovations aimed at addressing climate risks and having a positive socio-economic, economic and environmental impact. Launched in partnership with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), this fund builds on the success of its first edition, which supported eight new African companies through grants.

Start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and social enterprises from Africa, South and Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, and some countries in Europe and Latin America are eligible to apply. The fund seeks solutions that take advantage of digital technologies, particularly mobile technologies, to build resilience and adaptation to climate change.

Selected organizations will receive a comprehensive support package, including grants ranging from £100,000 to £250,000, tailored technical support, networking opportunities with mobile operators and public sector entities, peer learning initiatives and increased visibility through GSMA events, publications and social media. media platforms The application period is open until May 16 and those interested can submit their application through the link provided.
