Britain’s top science adviser created a little emotional moment on Monday. Confusing these tables, Patrick Vallance announced that 60% of hospitalizations concerned people who had already received two doses of the vaccine. Error, he later corrected on Twitter, the proportion is the opposite: 60% of hospitalized people are not vaccinated.

This figure of 40% of new hospital patients already vaccinated is enough to worry the officials of the NHS (public health service), while the country lives an epidemic outbreak due to the highly contagious Delta variant. The bar of 50,000 new cases is happily crossed on certain days and Health Minister Sajid Javid estimated that the figure could rise to 100,000 in summer. Despite this, most restrictions were lifted on Monday in England, including the requirement to wear a mask, even if it was kept on certain public transport or recommended in supermarkets.
